​​Diploma in Child Care: Early Years - Level 2, 3 & 5
 

The aim of the level 2 qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. This qualification will take approximately 12 months to complete.

This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce.
Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:
• nursery practitioner 
• classroom assistant
• pre-school practitioner.

The Level 3 Diploma in Child Care course is ideal for anyone who wishes to work in social care looking after children and young people.

This is a fairly extensive course, providing an in-depth analysis of childcare. First, you will learn the basics of childcare such as legal requirements, health and safety, safeguarding and equipment. Following that, you will move onto child psychology, exploring  gross, fine motor and cognitive skills. The next section elaborates on this topic, focussing on self-esteem and setting examples. Social behaviour training and management will also be looked at in detail, and this course will help you discover the roots of immaturity, punishment for disobedience, the difference between commendation and encouragement, plus much more.

In the final sections you will learn about child safety and health and social care, both inside and outside the home.

The aim of the Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner qualification is to support leadership and management skills in early years and the knowledge and skills relating to the early years practice. The level 5 Early Years Senior Practitioner will be a positive role model for the team. Through clear leadership and effective management, the Senior Practitioner will support and promote best practice within legislative requirements to enable quality provision. Working collaboratively with colleagues, other professionals and parents/carers the Senior Practitioner engages and motivates all involved for improved outcomes for babies and children.
